Ever been in a place, and a time, that felt you were meant to be there for some reason? When most people see a flaming car on the side of the road, and no people standing around, They just rubber neck and slow down traffic... There are a few, who would stop. And pull someone out of that burning car and save their life. why did they save a stranger at the risk of both their lives? I have heard stories, and witnessed the good in mankind. I have also heard some horror stories that i wish I hadn't heard.
The heroes, that may do the smallest things, or the biggest things... From letting you ahead of them in line at the store, returning your wallet with all money and cards still inside, to giving you a jump start to get your car running, or pulling someone out of a burning building. It all makes a difference. A big one. It may not seem like much to one who gives it. A single "Have a nice day." or compliment on a shirt can give someone a total 180 on their day.
Think about it for a minute. One day, you may have just been awful starting out, you were late for work, car wouldn't start, fridge went out, stained your favorite shirt.. or whatever... So bad day? You think it couldn't get worse, and it does. You catch a cold or something. (ugh, this sucks.) You get to the store, your dog tired, and you got some cough syrup and some soup. The guy ahead has a cart full of crap and its the only lane open. He lets you go ahead.
O.o
He tells you he hopes you feel better soon, and get some rest with a friendly smile.
Suddenly the day didn't seem so bad.
I'm talking today's mask less heroes. (i consider them in my book anyway) Those people who have restored faith in humanity by acts of kindness.
Back to the car rescue. Help with a changing a tire, sure. Risking life? I don't know. I cant say i would or wouldn't do something. maybe hope someone else would.
I don't know how I would react in that situation, but I would hope I would do the right thing and at least try. I have heard of people performing seemingly impossible feats and saved lives in so doing. This is amazing- spit-second decision, adrenaline rush, near-death experience...
Very few people have felt the cold grip of death at their throat, and release when a hero saves them from the clutches of the reaper. When a mother's child is at risk, her strength can be multiplied exponentially, and saving their child.
I'm not saying we should all run into a flaming apartment building to be heroes, the firefighters do that with proper gear to do so. But sometimes, they wont be there in time. Sometimes life will depend on that one person who, in a split second decision decides they would rather save that person, even if it costs their own life, and runs inside for the rescue.
Heroes man. Love those Heroes.
We know the Heroes in comics and movies with masks and capes. We seem to forget everyone has something to offer in sense of being a hero.
Listen to someones story. Let someone vent a little. Get the item on the top shelf for the elderly woman on the scooter. Give accurate directions, and helpful tips to people on topics you know about. Give a stranger some coupons.
Be nice to people. Be polite.
What goes around comes around, treat people as you would have them treat you.
Of course, lets not forget about the other known heroes-
Firefighters, Police Officers, EMTs and our Military Personnel.
The Nurses and Doctors, Teachers and Farmers.
Heroes are here, and they aren't going anywhere.
I would like to be one to deliver justice to those who deserve it. Like Batman, or Kickass.
Patrol the streets at night and beat down criminals and dump them at the police station. It would be cool, and very fulfilling to having done this.
We already know criminals do not follow the rules, why do "they" think placing more laws will stop them? "Oh, snap! Law passed we cant have drugs! We better get rid of them..."
Hell no. They find a way to get it to their customers and make their $. Strange how the two biggest money-making things are dubbed as "illegal". Drugs, and prostitution. They both make BANK. But isn't a profession, because you cant be taxed on it? Walter White cant claim his multi millions of hard-earned meth money because "you know who" cant tax it. Its bullshit, really. I work for my money damn it, who are you to say I cant keep what i earned, and who are you to decide how much you make, but i cant decide how much I make?
Sounds corrupt to me.
Either way, making laws against it will not get rid of anything. Posting a "gun free" zone sign will not prevent a guy with a gun to walk in and shoot, knowingly, unarmed people. maybe say "fuck it. Give 'em all guns. Lets let drugs and prostitution be legal, and tax all the hell out of it and see how that goes!" (maybe crossing a line)
Supply and demand.
If you flood the market with it, it is cheap, and easily obtainable, and pinch the supply for it, its hard to find and can be charged a lot for what you have.
We as people are not always the "rule abiding citizens" they think we are. As we were younger, we wanted what we couldn't have. Rebellion. Drinking and smoking at 16, drinking at 18, and its all legal at 21, so its no fun anymore.
As humans, we are always drawn to the "forbidden". Forbid it, it will be our utmost desire.
Realize this, people... Honestly...
