If I go to a bank, and borrow a bunch of money with out their permission, and having no intention to fully reimburse them, it is called robbery.
But when the government borrows MY money without MY permission, while having no intention of fully reimbursing me, it's called taxes.
I understand the taxes pay for stuff like police, firefighters, paramedics, and schools, and several other city/state expenses.
That I don't have a problem with.
My biggest problem is the ones who make decisions for me, when it isn't my choice anyway, getting paid six figures a year.
How I see it is, I'm paying them to make decisions based on the citizen's behalf so we don't have to.
They make almost 15 times more than i do in a year, and I doubt they earn it.
A high school teacher on average earns just 5 times more than I do. I am most certain a high school teacher has to work MUCH harder than any politician getting paid 10 times more them.
A police officer makes about the same as a teacher, and has a bigger chance of not coming home at night. Putting your life on the line to protect people apparently isn't worth it when it comes to being wealthy. I'm not implying that being an officer, teacher or doctor is a bad profession, and I'm not trying to imply you cannot live quite comfortably and retire with quite a nest egg. I'm just saying these professions require massive skills, which can only be received with training courses and schooling, which costs money, so you take out loans to cover it, and then need to work harder to pay that loan off AND cover your bills. Its bullshit, really.
I say we cut the salary of the "fat cats" getting paid for saying "yay" or "nay", and increase the salaries for those who deserve it. Like the armed forces... Law enforcement, teachers, fire fighters, paramedics- These people go through hell just for the sake of the citizens, and all they get is a mid-5 figure salary a year?! I know plenty of those who were in the armed forces, (thank you for your services, by the way), I am related to law enforcement officers, and know, AND am related to multiple EMTs, as well as know multiple teachers of elementary and high school teachers...
These people are so under appreciated, and it makes me SICK.
I have a small petty job, I flip hamburgers and make less than 12,000 a year. I get burns, big orders, go hours without eating or going to the bathroom.
Compared to the jobs above I have no reason to complain. Lives are not in my hands. I know I will go home to my family tonight after work. Stress stays at work, and that's awesome.
I still feel under appreciated for what i have to do for how much i make, but i know people risk their lives to ensure I can keep mine. I want to make more money than i do, but asking for 15 an hour is ridiculous. 9 or 10 is more than acceptable to me for my job. I would like to see some commission on sales as well. This way, I am more motivated for the store to succeed, and will be more concerned with my performance than i already am.
Point I want to make, if it isn't made obvious already, Take the money from the people who don't deserve it and give it to those who do deserve it.
